FSL Weekend 2018 Champions

This year the University of Iowa hosted their first ever FSL Weekend! FSL Weekend was formerly known as "Greek Week", a celebration of Greek life on campus full of fun and friendly competitions between paired fraternities and sororities. FSL Weekend contained all the same events as Greek Week used to, except this time it was condensed into a fun, jam packed weekend! Chi Omega was honored to be paired with the men of Phi Gamma Delta and Pi Alpha Phi for FSL Weekend. The theme was "No matter our letters, we still rock together" and we proved that in everything we participated in. Our pairing rocked it and took home 1st Place! Take a look below to see all the fun events that took place.

On Thursday, there was a blood drive and an educational given by RVAP representative Nailiah Roberts. Chi Omega was the highest donating chapter for the blood drive and had the highest attendance at the educational.

On Friday, Cortado hosted community day where Chi Omega raised the highest funds. Additionally, our sisters and our fraternity pairings busted some moves on the dance floor at Follies. At Follies, each pairing puts on a skit including singing, dancing, and a bit of acting. This year our Follies skit theme was 2000s pop. The men and women involved in our skit channeled their inner Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, rocking all the denim they could possibly wear. The skit was not only a blast, but all our hard work paid off as we received first place in Follies and the banner competition, as well as winning best female soloist - congratulations to our sister Sidney Smolik!

On Saturday we participated in Greek Olympics!

Spanning the length of the entire weekend, there was a penny war and a school supply drive. In the end, Chi Omega did well in the penny war and received first in the school supply drive, which benefits local schools in the community.

We had one sister in particular who played a major role in FSL Weekend. Katie Cabel was the Executive Director of Follies and did an incredible job putting together such a big event.

I had the honor of being selected as the Director of Follies on the FSL Weekend Executive Council. I had a blast planning with my awesome co-director, Devonte Chism of Alpha Sigma Phi, and the rest of the council over the past few months. Being Chi Omega’s Campus Activities Director and participating in the past couple of Greek Weeks were fantastic experiences for me, so I was thrilled I could extend my passion this year for the first ever FSL Weekend. I loved organizing the Follies competition at Hancher Auditorium (for the first time ever!) and seeing all the talented groups do what they love on stage. Being able to announce Chi Omega as Follies Champs was definitely an experience I’ll never forget!

Our success of FSL Weekend would not have been possible without the hard work of our fantastic campus activities directors, Kaitlyn and Sydney. Thank you so much for your dedication to and love for Psi Beta!

I am so proud of this chapter for putting so much hard work into FSL Weekend and winning FIRST PLACE!!! From winning Follies, to highest donations at the blood drive, these girls put their all into representing our chapter on campus. I absolutely loved every second of FSL Weekend—from working alongside our chapter pairings, to making late night runs to collect schools supplies—I would not change a thing! I was so ecstatic to see our fraternity pairings come together to make the most of this years FSL Weekend-we made an amazing team! I made some amazing friends and even better memories! I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a leader in such a strong chapter. Next up...Homecoming Week!
