A Look Back at 2021

This past year has been a time of getting back to being with the people we love. It was a year of being creative to stay connected and uphold the purpose of our sisterhood while staying safe. The members of Chi Omega showed great dedication and leadership as they went above and beyond to create memories through events like Mom’s Day and World Wish Day in early spring all the way to our last event, the annual Holiday Cozy.

In addition to finding ways to connect with sisters, these women have excelled in their studies getting dream internships and grad school acceptance letters. They’ve dedicated themselves to bettering the community through volunteering and running the Chicago Marathon for Dance Marathon. They showed perseverance as we all got back to in-person classes facing unexpected challenges like learning how to take their first in-person exam after a year and a half of college. 2021 has been a year of stress and learning, but also filled with joy and laughter, and our sisters of Chi Omega have been there through it all.

“Serving as president in 2021 was a joy and an honor. Watching our chapter transition back into normal programming was the sweetest reminder of what our sisterhood stands for - resiliency, connection, and true friendship. I am so proud of every woman in Chi Omega & I can’t wait to see what we accomplish in 2022, together.” - MacKenzie Kort, PC ‘19, President

One major highlight of 2021 was recruiting 42 incredible new women to take on the role of leaders, friends, and sisters in Chi Omega. We faced a last minute switch to virtual recruitment, but through the incredible leadership of our recruitment team, the dedication of our members, and the eagerness of the new members, we were blessed with genuine, intelligent, and compassionate women to lead Psi Beta in the coming years.

“Chi Omega has allowed me to grow so much this past year!!! I feel like I have changed so much in the past year for the better! I have been able to grow into the strong women chi omega promotes and I’ve been able to accomplish goals I have set for myself academically! I am so excited to begin this new year as our New Member Educator and help show our new members why being a Chi Omega is truly life changing!” - Anna Hamling, PC ‘20

“Opening up to a new chapter in life was ultimately terrifying, walking into life in college blindly was something I didn’t want to do alone. But as soon as I met the girls in Chi Omega, I knew I would never be alone in any sense of the word. I understood that they would lift me up when I’m sad, support my every life decision with happiness, and most importantly, I knew they would challenge me. Being a new member was filled with long nights of learning and coming to understand what being a Psi Beta in Chi Omega truly is and recognizing that the ladies I surround myself with are sincerely the true embodiment of a Chi O woman. A woman who is kind and empathetic, witty and ambitious, a woman who is responsible and well respected by her peers, to be womanly always and discouraged never, and many more qualities that could fill this page. As a new member I learned that Chi O is more than a sisterhood, it’s a bond for life and I’m so glad and eternally grateful that I am able to call all these lovely women my sisters and relish in the fact that I am a Chi Omega woman.” - Julia Adomaitis, PC ‘21

We had a great 2021 enjoying just being together. Getting back to sisterhoods, fundraising for Make-A-Wish, cheering on our sisters on Homecoming Court, formals, parent’s weekends, winning the flag football championship, and pizza nights at the house reminded us why we joined and why we continue to love Chi Omega. Here’s to 2022 continuing to challenge us and the many memories to come!
